Trophies and medals (gold, silver, and bronze) will be awarded to the top three performers, each and the company that scores the highest points over the course of all the sporting events, in the tournament, wins the overall trophy.

EnergizeOlympics: Inter-Corporate Sports Tournament

Rules for Carrom

1. Toss

  1. There shall be a toss by the umpire at the commencement of each match. The toss shall either be by the spin of a coin or by means of calling the carrom men. The player who wins the toss shall have either the choice of side or the option to strike first. If the winner decides to have the choice of side, he shall communicate the same to the umpire, who shall instruct the player who loses the toss to sit first.
  2. If, however, the break is chosen by the winner of the toss, the choice of side shall lie with the player who loses the toss.
  3. Once the players have sat down, they cannot interchange. This order of sitting shall continue throughout the match.
  4. There shall be a toss by the umpire at the commencement of the third board, if there is a need for one.

2. How to Strike

  1. The striker shall be struck and not pushed.
  2. The stroke shall be made with a finger with or without the support of other fingers.
  3. Any hand may be used in play.
  4. While making a stroke, the ‘hand’ may touch the playing surface.
  5. a) While making a stroke, the elbow of the playing ‘hand’ shall not come within the playing surface nor shall it extend beyond the imaginary lines of the arrow.
    b) The ‘hand’ may, however, cross the arrow.
  6. a) While making a stroke, taking support of their seat or the stand/table of the carrom board and/or keeping their legs on the rim of the stand/table, by the player, is not permissible.
    b) However, their hands may rest on their body and their legs may rest on the rim of the seat, on which they sit.

3. From the first round to the final it is best of two boards or 20 minutes, whichever is earlier.

If, at the end of 20 minutes, two boards are not completed, the game will be stopped and the winner will be decided based on the points scored at the time of stoppage. [3 points for the queen and 1 point for each carrom man]. If the points are equal at the end of 20 minutes, one tie-breaker board will be played to decide the winner.

Or

If each player has won one board each, to determine the winner, the points will be taken into account [3 points for the queen and 1 point for each carrom man]. If the points are equal, at the end of two boards, one tie-breaker board will be played to decide the winner.

The time limit for making a stroke by a player and for placing the due(s)/penalty(ies) will be 10 seconds.

Players will have to report to their respective carrom boards for each match five minutes before the scheduled time. Players can test the boards for two minutes within those five minutes and shall start their matches right on time. Trial boards will not be allowed.

4. Change of Sides

The change of sides by the players shall be made in the opposite direction at the conclusion of each game.The players shall not take more than two minutes to change sides.

5. Thumbing is allowed.

‘Thumbing’ shall mean taking a stroke with the thumb.

7. If a player fails to turn up for the match, a walkover will be given to the player present after 5 minutes of scheduled match time.

8. The decision of the umpire will be final.

 

Rules for Chess

1. The tournament will follow the RAPID CHESS TOURNAMENT 2023 RULES AND REGULATIONS and the SYSTEM OF PLAY will be seven ROUNDS (SWISS SYSTEM).

2. A Player will play all seven rounds, whether he wins or loses.

3. Tie-breaks will be decided on the following bases.

  • BUCHHOLZ CUT 1
  • BUCHHOLZ ALL
  • SONNEBORN BERGER
  • DIRECT ENCOUNTER
  • GREATER NO OF VICTORIES

4. There will be a time control of ten minutes each and an additional five-second increment from Move 1

5. Players cannot bring any electronic devices to the tournament.

6. FIDE Fair Play Procedures will be followed in this tournament.

7. The decision of the arbiter will be final.
